Ok, so the next few posts occured in the past, so I'll be dating them as such, even though they will post on various dates...
January 19, 2008
Today was bittersweet actually.
I woke up to a softly falling snow which was beautiful and quite unusual for the Atlanta area.
The morning brought shocking news that one of Al's friends (and mine) had tragically passed away. There was not much detail given, just plans made to go to his funeral that would be held in his hometown of Tennessee.
I had been wanting to get my cello fixed in order to play for a friend's wedding and had previously made an appointment to take my baby to Huthmaker's for a checkup.
Al went with me (I made him drive) and we began the adventure with my new GPS.
After making it to Huthmaker's, dropping off the cello, taking a scenic tour of Lawrencville and striking out three times with my GPS, we stopped at Mellow Mushroom for lunch.
Over lunch, I casually mentioned that I had seen a Shane Co. on the way up, so Al suggested that we stop in and take a look, just to see what's out there.
I was ECSTATIC!
We get to Shane's and I run to the restroom while the saleslady attacks Al.
Unbeknownst to me, Al goes through the showroom and picks out 2 rings that he thinks I'll like (after basic coaching of what I was looking for - halo setting/cushion cut diamond).
So I head into the showroom and start my first journey of looking at engagement rings.
I'm suprised at how quickly my girly side comes out.
Strange what diamonds will do to you.
I found a few, but nothing really stood out to me.
Then I found out, again with the shaft of light and angelic voices.
I swear, I put it on my finger and I was dazzled.
It was perfect.
Christopher Cross design, split shank, pave set diamonds down the side, halo setting, cushion cut 1.4 diamond.....price tag.....approx. $8,439.00.
What's a girl to do with champagne taste on a beer budget you ask?
Sigh heavily and begrudingly take the ring off her hand.
Oh well, if nothing else, I learned what I was looking for, what looks good on me and ballpark prices.
We wrote down all the info. and I went home and poured through the internet trying to find something that would be comparable.
The search continues.....
